Talk to the hand...

Yesterday was an eventful day centered around the baby. I felt the baby move for the first time! It was the coolest sensation. I wore a skirt that was a little tight around the waist (I'm trying to get into all my fun summer clothes one last time). There was a 'nerve' that kept twitching in my abdomen and it was about after 15 minutes that I stopped and realized that this was different. It did feel like the flutter that everyone explains but it also felt similar to when my eye involuntarily twitches. It was amazing!

We also had our first Hypnobabies class. (On the drive over, Kirk kept singing the Notorious B.I.G. song, Hypnotize. I was laughing so hard.) It went really well but there was a section of the class I agreed with but I may have a hard time with. We're not supposed to listed to any negative birth stories. If, and when, these stories come up I'm supposed to raise my hand (as shown above) and say, "I'm going to stop you right now and change the subject. I'm planning on having a wonderful, natural and empowering birth. Let's talk about something else." Harsh, huh? I'll probably take the easy way out and blame not being able to listen to horror birth stories b/c, "This class I'm taking... it doesn't let me talk about negative birth stories. Weird, huh? Sorry..." It's nice to have a scapegoat that I can blame why I can't listen to another traumatic birth story. So now you know... no scary baby stories!

  1. Funny. Well, if it makes you feel any better, after my second baby I feel like even I could go natural (if I had too). That comes from someone who didn't take any classes and only a few tips from friends on relaxing. If you are prepared, you will be fine.

When all is said and done you will probably be like me and say "that wasn't my favorite thing but it wasn't so bad". One reason I think I can say that though is because I did hear all the horror stories and expected it to be really awful so it was better than I thought.

  2. Maria, I'm going to have to stop you. I want Dorthea to have an empowering pregnancy. Pregnancy is going to be her most favorite thing.

  3. Rachel, I think it's a little late for that.
