D.I.'ing it up

The D.I. is the place you can tell Monroe is my son. Where Kirk won't even step inside, Monroe and I can spend over an hour just browsing through the aisles of treasures. Kirk has set some boundaries for his woman, and asked me to stop bringing home items from the D.I. Seeing that we have also been a on budget, I've found a way to still get my D.I. fix, but not make any purchases.

I have a list of people that I send photos to of items that I think need a good home. This week I found a mid-century headboard (just gorgeous) for $8, a breadbox with kitchen canisters for $6 (for the set!) and a peda-stool table with a leaf for $15. I sent out my mass text to my adoptive parents and found a good home for the headboard and bread box.

These items are just too dear to let go unnoticed and it makes me so happy to find people that appreciate them. If you'd like to get added to my D.I. list, just leave a comment. I'll get your number added!

Wedding Royale

Who's going to watch the royal wedding? If you are a true anglophile and want to win the map above you can enter by leaving a comment on this blog. I'm really tempted to watch since Monty's back to not sleeping well (the universe heard me and retaliated... or his two teeth popping through really hurt). He usually wakes up around 3 so I might just do it.

P.S. Charles and Diana were married the same year as my parents, my sister was born the same year as William and I was born the same year as Harry. We've always had a connection, haha. Maybe my sister will get married this year too.

Unswaddling

This week has been a challenge. My homework has been to get Monroe to sleep outside of the swaddle... It's been harder than I thought. We slowly have worked from swaddle, to one arm out, to freedom. I though he'd love it, but all he wants to do is play with his hands and not nap. We've made progress though. He took two full naps yesterday and two half naps today. I think next time/baby I won't swaddle them as long. Any tips?

Would you still love me if I looked like this?

Happy 3 months today, Monroe!

Photobooth still entertains me after 5 years.

Done!

chair_shelf

The nursery is done! It has been so much fun working on it, but I will say I'm glad that overall it's pretty gender neutral. That way in the future we won't have to redo too much if another gender decides to come into our lives.

I didn't want to overwhelm this page with photos, but I just couldn't narrow it down either. You can play I spy and see all the little gifts that everyone gave Monroe around the room. Thanks again! It wouldn't have been the same without all those personal touches.

Study my Child

Yesterday on the radio I heard an announcement for the National Children's Study. They are looking for participants to take part in an environment study and will study your child from birth until age 21! There are no medications involved and so I decided to give them a call. They are sending me information and I think we're going to do it. I think it sounds awesome to take part in something bigger than us. Once I get the info I'll tell you more about it and our final decision but you can check to see if your area is still needing participants by clicking here. Don't you think it sounds like an awesome opportunity to be a part of? Let me know if you've heard anything either way.

Holla'!

School started up again today at USU and for the last week students have been moving up and into the dorms. The other day I had only walked about 300 yards from my office and realized I needed to use the bathroom NOW. The only buildings around were the freshmen dorms. I dashed in and there was a group of boys getting off the elevator. Being the first week of school and I'm sure ready for any action, they hollered at me from behind. It was so funny because I heard a, "Heeeey!" and so I turned around. It was so funny to see the expression of EEEK on their face as they saw my belly and hurried out of the building. This is what they saw:

(Note: I do not suggest a pregnant freshman girl
to live in the dorms, it seems like it would be a tough life.)

I thought your belly button was supposed to get bigger... I heard today on the radio that the belly button is the 'universal physical characteristic that all humans share'. Soon I may not be considered human (27 weeks).

Sweetest thing!

Odosketch is the coolest little website I came across. I saw this drawing and thought of little baby brundage. I hope he's this sweet with the ladies when he gets older. Basically, Odosketch just gives you a drawing pad and you can draw anything you'd like. Then it replays it for you and you can export and save it. I think I may do a little family portrait this weekend. Let me know if you post anything, I'd love to see it.
